The rustling of leaves, the lush green of the forest and spectacular views: treetop walks offer unique experiences in nature, at eye level with tree canopies. On wooden walkways and from observation towers, visitors discover forests from a whole new perspective – peaceful, fascinating and informative. We'll introduce you to seven of the most beautiful treetop walks in Germany.

Treetop Walk Saarschleife

High above the Saar river, the Treetop Walk Saarschleife winds its way through mixed forest before ending at an impressive observation tower. From Mettlach, visitors can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Saarschleife river bend and the surrounding landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. This accessible trail offers interactive stations with fascinating information about the region's flora and fauna.

Treetop Walk Bavarian Forest

At 1,300 metres, this walk is one of the longest in Europe. Nestled in the heart of the Bavarian Forest National Park, it leads to a spiralling tree tower with impressive views. Once at the top, a spectacular panorama of untouched forest wilderness is unveiled.

Treetop Walk Bad Harzburg (Harz Mountains)

Where nature meets history: this trail leads through an old mountain forest, providing insights on the region's geology and history at various information points. One particular highlight is the suspension bridge, which rewards thrill-seekers with a unique rush of adrenaline.

Treetop Walk Heringsdorf (Usedom)

This trail is sure to delight anyone who loves the forest and the sea. It connects the coastal forests of Usedom with views over the Baltic Sea. A walkable net on the highest platform will send your heart racing, and offers spectacular views of the beach, promenade and water.

Panarbora Treetop Walk

At the Panarbora Nature Adventure Park near Cologne, visitors can explore a 1,635-metre circular trail offering exciting insights into the local flora and fauna. It's also ideal for families: tree house accommodation allows you to spend the night surrounded by nature.

Bad Iburg Treetop Walk 

This 440-metre-long trail was created as part of the 2018 National Horticultural Show and blends harmoniously into the landscape. Viewing platforms offer impressive views of the Osnabrück countryside, as well as the historic gardens in the spa town of Bad Iburg.

Treetop Walk Black Forest – Bad Wildbad

In the northern Black Forest, high above the spa town of Bad Wildbad, this approximately 1,250-metre-long path winds its way through mixed mountain forest. The highlight: a 40-metre-high observation tower with a 360-degree view over the Enz Valley, the vibrant Black Forest panorama and as far as the Swabian Alb. It's an experience for young and old alike – accessible, family-friendly and open all year round.
