Welcome to a winding panoramic route spanning 450 kilometres through the majestic mountain backdrop of southern Bavaria from Lindau by Lake Constance to Berchtesgaden on Lake Königssee.
Over 20 crystal-clear mountain lakes, castles, fairytale palaces, more than 60 spa resorts, ravines, valleys, several hundred peaks and sun-soaked mountain pastures are waiting to be admired along the German Alpine Road. And there is plenty of opportunity for high-altitude culinary delights in quaint mountain huts, buzzing beer gardens and cosy lakeside cafés. Visitors can also take their pick from activities such as water sports, cycling, hiking, climbing and winter sports at the countless ski resorts. Holidaymakers travelling along the route can choose to stay on a farm or in a luxurious lodging house.
