Nestled between Neuschwanstein Castle and Lake Constance, visitors can leave the stresses and strains of daily life behind them and strengthen the body's natural defence mechanisms at Germany's first and only Schroth health resort.

The founder of the original Oberstaufen Schroth treatment, Johann Schroth, realised that digestive processes use up energy that the body's defence systems need too. And so he developed his own natural remedy to give the metabolism and circulation a boost. It makes sense, then, that cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, burnout and metabolic disorders are treated at Oberstaufen. The focus is on maintaining a low-calorie diet and cutting out animal proteins, fat and salt. The treatment is made even more effective by alternating between "wet days" and "dry days" and rest and exercise.
