The association for cyclists
The German National Cyclists' Association (ADFC) was founded in 1979 and is a nationwide, non-profit organization with more than 240,000 members. It advocates for a shift in transportation with the bicycle at the center, aiming to improve safety, health, and quality of life. In addition to everyday cycling, the ADFC is committed to the continuous improvement of cycling tourism offerings and represents the interests of the tourism industry as well as cycling tourists.

Market Research & Expertise
The ADFC Cycling Travel Analysis has been a systematic study of cycling travel and excursion behavior in Germany for over 25 years. It provides insights into four segments of cycling tourism: cycling tours, short cycling trips, day trips by bike, and cycling during holidays. The results are presented at ITB Berlin and help tourism organizations better understand the needs of cycling tourists and develop appropriate measures.
With the ADFC Cycling Tourism Congress the ADFC has established a professional event for the German cycling tourism industry.
In addition, the ADFC supports tourism stakeholders with expert reports and position papers, including the ADFC Recommendations for Child-Friendly Cycling Offers and a position paper on Cycling and Nature Conservation.
ADFC Quality Seals
Through the classification "ADFC Quality Cycle Routes" and the certification "ADFC Cycling Travel Region,", the ADFC evaluates long-distance cycling routes and cycling destinations based on defined criteria from the perspective of cycling tourists. Routes and regions that meet these criteria may receive awards, such as a star rating for long-distance routes or certification as a Cycling Travel Region.
“Bett+Bike” identifies bike-friendly accommodation providers that meet defined minimum requirements for cyclists, such as secure bike storage and specific service features.
Bett+Bike is the quality certificate for now 5,900 bike-friendly accommodations.

The ADFC's marketing platform for cycling tourism in Germany has been presenting selected long-distance cycling routes and cycling regions for over 25 years. The eponymous magazine and the ADFC Cycling Travel Portal provide guidance on route selection, travel planning, and preparation.
