Welcome to Germany’s Magic Cities

The Magic Cities was first established in the 1950s as a marketing association representing 10 major city destinations in Germany. Its objective is to raise the profile of these cities internationally as destinations for holidays and business travel.
These fabulous destinations have everything your heart could desire: a relaxing atmosphere, exciting festivals, fascinating history and delicious regional cuisine. Enjoy a warm welcome wherever you go and meet new friends in Germany’s favorite cities.
Cologne’s Cathedral and famous Carnival, the city by the Rhine that is famed for its sense of fun.
The spotlight falls on the fine arts in and around Dresden. Discover its world-famous baroque cityscape.

Captivating contrasts await you in Frankfurt, the home of Goethe and German young wine (“Ebbelwei”).

From the adventure zoo to Herrenhausen Gardens: Bremen, the dynamic heart of north-west Germany and the home of the Bremen Town Musicians, offers something for all ages.

  • 350th anniversary of the death of the Dresden court composer Heinrich Schütz – with concerts, festivals, installations and exhibitions all year long..
  • 300th Birthday of Bernardo Bellotto, called Canaletto: anniversary exhibition in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (May 20 to August 28, 2022), Baroque Festivals in Pirna (April 22, June 17-19) and City Festival in Dresden (August 19-21, 2022)
  • 300 years of Meissen’s crossed swords – the world’s probably oldest trade mark: temporary and permanent exhibitions in the Meissen Manufactory, the Albrechtsburg castle Meissen, the Dresden Fortress Xperience and the Dresden Porcelain Collection.
  • 587th (2021) & 588th (2022) Striezelmarkt (Germany’s oldest Christmas market) plus more Christmas markets.

Welcome to the Magic Cities Germany
